Our Story

Van Hoe Funeral Home has provided local families with funeral and cremation services for four generations. Today, as part of the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, the family-owned tradition of compassionate care continues.

Van Hoe Funeral Home got its start when Belgian immigrant Joseph Van Hoe began translating and notarizing documents for the East Moline Undertaking Company. He purchased half of the company in July 1923, and his son, Albert, became an embalmer and later went on to establish Van Hoe Funeral Home. Albert’s son, John Van Hoe, attended mortuary college and became owner in 1979. John’s sons, Dan and Mike, followed the family legacy, becoming Licensed Funeral Directors in the 1980s.

In 2022, Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory purchased Van Hoe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, welcoming it as one of its Quad Cities locations. With the two family-owned funeral and cremation services coming together, Van Hoe Funeral Home proudly carries on the tradition of serving East Moline area families for 100 years and counting.
